  12. This is the first public beta-release of Lynx.

  14. What is Lynx ?
  15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  16. It's an image processing package. Yet another ? Not exactly. Lynx is
  17. significantly different than others images processing packages availables
  18. for the Amiga.
  19.  
  20. For example, It can do the Fourier transformation and works in the frequency
  21. domain of the images.
  22.  
  23. It's the first one (I think !) which be able to work on 16 bits per pixel
  24. (per channel) images, that gives 65536 gray levels !
  25.  
  26. The main purpose of Lynx is scientific and it is  able  to  process images in
  27. many domains:  Astronomy, physics, archeology...
  28.  
  29. Lynx can also execute some subjectives processes such as image composition,
  30. solarize effect, oil painting...
  31.  
  32. There are two versions: 8bits and 16bits. The first one is rather designed
  33. for subjective processing, while the second is rather for "serious" image
  34. processing !

  36. Why ?

  38. In  the  beginning I would  process  some  astronomical images that I had
  39. released  with  a  CCD  camera, but there wasn't any software on the Amiga
  40. able  to  perform  some processes such as FFT transform, Gaussian filters,
  41. profile extraction and many others. So I'd decided to make my own program.

  43. Capabilities

  45. -Lynx can load and process as many images as possible (multiples buffers)
  46. -Up to 256 slices (channels) per image.
  47. -Add, delete, move slices between image buffers (stacks).

  105. The  current  version  of  Lynx is a beta-version, so it might be some bugs
  106. left, and some (very few) functions aren't implanted yet.
  107.  
  108. At  this  moment, only the french documentation is available, but an english
  109. documentation will be available soon.

  111. Lynx is developped on:
  112. - A500 with PPS 040
  113. - A4000/040
  114.  
  115. Sucessfully tested on:
  116. - A4000/040
  117. - A1200 with/without FAST ram, coprocessor, accelerator card.
  118. - A3000
  119. - A500+
  120.  
  121. Lynx works on any Amigas with Workbench 2.04+ installed.  It takes care
  122. of installed chipset (OCS/ECS, AGA).
  123. It needs the reqtools.library which is not included here.
  124.  
  125. If you have Workbench 2.1+, Lynx will be localized (french and english
  126. catalogs).
